The Minister of Foreign Affairs discusses with the Chairperson of the African Union Commission the developments in Sudan

Today, Sunday, the Minister of Foreign Affairs, Sameh Shoukry, made a phone call to the Chairman of the African Union Commission, Moussa Fakih, to discuss the current developments in Sudan.

Ambassador Ahmed Abu Zeid, the official spokesman for the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, revealed that Shoukry was keen to inform the Chairman of the African Commission of the efforts made by Egypt, in coordination with the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, within the framework of the League of Arab States, by calling for an emergency meeting of the League Council at the level of permanent delegates in order to Work to defuse the current crisis in Sudan, reviewing the most important conclusions and recommendations of the meeting.

The call dealt with the scheduled session of the Peace and Security Council of the African Union, today, to discuss the situation in Sudan, where the Minister of Foreign Affairs stressed the importance of concerted efforts to preserve the stability and safety of the brotherly state of Sudan and its people.

The Minister of Foreign Affairs, Chairman of the African Union Commission, informed of the contacts that Egypt is making in order to urge the Sudanese parties to cease fire and stop bloodshed, including the contact he made with the Sudanese Foreign Minister, Ali Al-Sadiq, this morning.

The two sides agreed to continue consultation and coordination during the coming days to follow up on the developments of the crisis and efforts to contain it.
