Mukhtar Ghobashi, deputy director of the Center for Strategic Arab Studies, said that Syria has returned to its seat, as a vacant seat in the League of Arab States, and based on this return, it was invited.
“Ghobashi” added, in exclusive statements to “Al-Dustour”, that we imagine, in one way or another, that this matter will be studied very carefully by the Syrians or the Syrian government, since Assad is still rejected by many Arab countries.
He continued: However, Syria has returned to normal diplomatic relations, but as the beginning of complex steps that require a lot of time. Because the matter will be related to Bashar al-Assad himself in the Arab barriers related to the refugees and displaced persons in the Syrian arena, or it will be related to the release of detainees, or the Russian protection to Syria, or the strategic relationship of Iran and the Iranian militias on the ground.
He stressed that the Arab talks with the United States of America about the Caesar Act, although we are in the beginnings of the return of Syria, but there are very many steps in the future. I imagine that these steps will take a long period of time, but Bashar may attend and he will send his foreign minister. If some Arab leaders insist on the presence of Bashar al-Assad, it is possible that he will be present at this summit.
President Bashar al-Assad received an invitation from the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques, King Salman bin Abdulaziz, to participate in the thirty-second session of the Arab League Council meeting at the summit level, which will be held in Jeddah on May 19.
