The 23-year-old Portugal international complained of pain in the upper part of his right thigh, after accelerating on the left flank.
Moments later, and as a result of a discussion by Milan’s technical staff, Liao was replaced by Belgian Alexei Salmakers in the 11th minute, perhaps as a precaution before the expected date next Wednesday against Inter.
Liao is Milan’s most powerful offensive weapon in the past two seasons, and led him to the “Serie A” league title in the 2022 edition.
The Portuguese was also decisive this season, similar to the quarter-finals of the Champions League against Napoli, which was finally crowned with the domestic league title, as he played decisive balls back (1-0) and forth (1-1).
