Ammon – The Kuwait Integrated Petroleum Industries Company (KIPIC) announced, on Friday, the resumption of the operation of the first refinery in the Al-Zour Oil Complex, after technical problems occurred in the refinery and led to its partial suspension, in the middle of this month.

A KIPIC spokesman, Abdullah Al-Ajmi, confirmed that the company has begun preparations for foreign export operations after restarting, to meet the needs of the global market.

And he indicated that the Al-Zour refinery “has proven its worth in fulfilling the requirements of the global markets for petroleum products,” as 18 countries were supplied with the products of this refinery through 68 shipments that were exported from the company’s facilities until March 13, which supports Kuwait’s budget with more oil revenues, according to his expression.

On April 12, KIPIC announced that the operations of the Al-Zour refinery were “facing minor technical challenges that led to a partial shutdown of the refinery,” and indicated at the time that work was under way to restart operations within two weeks.

It is noteworthy that the operation of the first refinery began last November, and the Al-Zour refinery project is considered one of the most important strategic projects for the State of Kuwait, according to the official news agency.
